The Projects forum has now been renamed to Tips, Tricks, Tutorials and Projects.

The purpose of this forum is to share your woodturning tips, tricks, tutorials, and techniques here and document the progress of follow-along projects with descriptions and photographs if possible. Forum members are encouraged to follow along asking questions and making suggestions.

For example, a simple project tutorial for making a sandpaper cutting jig that I made several years ago. Beats the heck out using scissors.

Materials needed: A board, a worn-out fine-tooth hacksaw blade, couple of small washers, 2 short screws. Place washers between the board and blade. Fasten with screws. To use, simply slide the sandpaper sheet between the blade and board and tear off as desired. It's so handy.

How to use the Stuart Batty Angle gauge? This particular gauge has several angles which can be set. Note how Aaron places the gauge on the platform to set the angle to 40 degrees. The gauge always references the platform angle to the grinding wheel.

I'm sure you all have tips, tricks you use in turning, or maybe a short tutorial for making jigs that we could benefit from in our shop turning. Or maybe a step-by-step method for making a project. Please share the bounty.

BTW, with today's wig stands contribution, the club has reached 278 stands made and donated to the Cancer Center since 2021 per our wig stand community engagement project. Please consider making more, they are always in need. And, besides, it feels good to be part of this club's ongoing project. Suggested production guidelines can be found in this forum, posted January 2026.
